My name is Alvaro Onieva, I am 27 years old and I come from Spain.
What is the reason you committed your life to kitesurfing?
Since I was a child I had a special connection with watersports, the feeling of freedom, the extensive disciplines and possibilities kiteboarding offered wasn't comparable to any other sport. I don't regret one second of the amount of time I invested on this awesome and magnificent sport.
What is your biggest achievement in your sport?
Probably to keep enjoying my last sessions as much as the first day, something really rare specially competing for so many years on the World Tour.
"I dont regret one second of the amount of time I invested on this awesome and magnificent sport."
What are you doing to push yourself everyday?
I try always to keep my motivation ahead trying new tricks, or things that never was done before in kiteboarding. Also training other sports gives me the feeling that helps me to connect better with my Ride and improve my style.
What is your vision on what direction the sport should go?
I think kiteboarding has to use his biggest virtue in order to get expanded, that virtue is the many possibilities we have with the traction of the kite, simply changing a board design we have a totally different experience, and that eventually will attack a lot the attention of the future practitioners.
