FAQ

A Mystic technical jacket is made to add protection against windchill, spray and changing weather before, during or between sessions. Most technical jackets are worn over a wetsuit to help riders stay warmer when the wind picks up. They are especially useful for kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and cold-weather sessions where wind protection matters as much as neoprene thickness.

Choose the Vortex Fidlock Jacket if you want the most complete neoprene jacket with extra storage, a waterproof magnetic Fidlock chest pocket and strong wind protection. Choose the Vortex Jacket if you want a warm 3/2mm neoprene jacket with multiple pockets, an adjustable hood and a spreaderbar hole. Choose the Fulmar Hoodie if you want a reliable 3/2mm neoprene hoodie to wear over your wetsuit against windchill. Choose the Haze Hoodie if you want a lighter 2mm neoprene hoodie. Choose the Storm Hoodie if you prefer a softshell layer with fleece lining. Choose the Gust Windbreaker if you want a lighter windbreaker shell that blocks wind and spray over your wetsuit.

A technical jacket gives the most structured protection, often with a front zip, hood, pockets and a spreaderbar hole. A neoprene hoodie is a warmer and more flexible layer that can be worn over a wetsuit to reduce windchill. A windbreaker is lighter and focuses mainly on blocking wind and spray rather than adding thick neoprene warmth. Choose a jacket for maximum features, a neoprene hoodie for warmth and comfort, and a windbreaker for lighter weather protection.

For kitesurfing, choose a technical jacket with a spreaderbar hole so the harness hook can pass through the jacket. The Vortex Fidlock Jacket, Vortex Jacket, Fulmar Hoodie, Haze Hoodie, Storm Hoodie and Gust Windbreaker all include a spreaderbar hole, making them suitable for kite sessions over a wetsuit. Choose the Vortex Fidlock Jacket or Vortex Jacket for more warmth and pockets, and choose the Gust Windbreaker when you want a lighter wind-blocking shell.

Mystic technical jackets are designed to be wind and water resistant, not full waterproof rain jackets. They help block wind, spray and light water exposure while riding or waiting between sessions. Neoprene models such as the Vortex Jacket and Fulmar Hoodie add warmth and wind protection, while the Gust Windbreaker uses a PU laminated nylon shell to help prevent wind and water from seeping in. For heavy rain or long dry-land use, a normal waterproof jacket is still the better choice.

A Mystic technical jacket should fit comfortably over your wetsuit without feeling too tight around the shoulders, chest or harness area. For kitesurfing and windsurfing, make sure the jacket allows free arm movement and that the spreaderbar hole lines up properly with your harness hook. If you want more warmth, choose a closer fit. If you want easier layering and comfort between sessions, choose a slightly roomier fit.
