βHonestly, I couldnβt believe it at first,β he says. βWinning my first World Title is something I dreamed about for years.β His brother was on the podium with him. βSeeing him next to me made it even more special. Itβs a moment Iβll never forget.β
The conditions in Greece didnβt make it easy. Full onshore, strong and gusty, the kind of wind that punishes bad timing. βYou had to take off with the right gust if you wanted to land your biggest tricks,β Leonardo says. Itβs familiar territory. He trains in exactly this in the Canary Islands. βSo I felt comfortable even out there.β
A week later, itβs still sinking in. βIt still feels a bit unreal,β he says. βEvery day it sinks in a little more.β Messages have kept coming, from friends, family, people whoβve followed the journey for years.
It would be easy to treat a World Title at seventeen as the finish line. Leonardo doesnβt. His father coaches him. His brother pushes him daily. βWinning this title shows that all those years of hard work were worth it. But I still have many goals I want to achieve.β
After the result was confirmed, the team celebrated together. βSharing this moment with my family, my brother, and everyone whoβs been part of this journey was probably the best part,β he says. βThey all sacrificed so much to help me get here.β
One title down. By his own words, this is only the start.
